Encryption and Backup

by Harald Hoyer last modified Apr 24, 2008 09:22 AM
Set up encryption and backup services for my home network.

Switched all my partitions to encryption. Either be installing Fedora 9 Preview or playing with pam_mount to let my users password open the LUKS home partition per user. Per user home encryption is not yet supported by Fedora with a GUI.

For backups I evaluated duplicity, but finally used bacula. Duplicity is fine for remote backups and bacula is more flexible in a local network. For a one-time backup, you can simply use rsync. A nice GUI for bacula and duplicity is missing though.
